Jet micronization, or fluid energy milling, is a high-energy process used to reduce the particle size of solids to the sub-ten-micron range (typically $1$ to $10$ microns). Unlike traditional mechanical mills that use blades or hammers, jet mills rely on high-velocity compressed gas to induce particle-on-particle impact.
The core principle of a jet mill is inter-particle collision. The material is introduced into a shallow chamber where high-pressure gas (usually air or nitrogen) is injected through specialized nozzles.
